recommends the use of the wireless CR2500 for convenient operation and to eliminate the possibility of a cable interfering with patient
care.
Through Code’s experience in implementing bar code readers in hospitals, the Bar Coded Medication Administration QuickStart Guide
has been developed to provide users quick and easy instructions to confi gure Code bar code readers to the preferred workfl ow, as
outlined in this Guide.

To confi gure a Code bar code reader for a bedside environment, you will:

Select the use case that best fi ts needs.
Scan the confi guration code(s) to set up the CR1200, CR2, or CR2500 for the selected use case.
Follow additional steps, where applicable, to program the CodeXML™ Bluetooth® Modem.

Identify which application Code bar code readers will interface with.

Scan the code(s) assigned to the selected application to confi gure the CR1200, CR2, or CR2500 to
interface with the preferred health information system application.

(Optional) Scan User Feedback Setting codes.
Note: CR2 reader fi rmware version 4058 (with boot version of 3654) and CodeXML Bluetooth Modem processor fi rmware of 0170 (with
USB fi rmware of 0016) or higher is required to confi gure your CR2. CR2500 reader fi rmware version 4512 (with boot version 3652) and
CodeXML Bluetooth Modem processor fi rmware of 0170 (with USB fi rmware of 0016) or higher is required to confi gure your CR2500.
Refer to Appendix A for fi rmware version verifi cation instructions. If the fi rmware version displayed is below the required version or not
